3:64 Say, “O followers of the scripture, let us come to a logical agreement between us and you: that we shall not worship except GOD; that we never set up any idols besides Him, nor set up any human beings as lords beside GOD.” If they turn away, say, “Bear witness that we are submitters.”
3:65 O followers of the scripture, why do you argue about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Do you not understand?
3:66 You have argued about things you knew; why do you argue about things you do not know? GOD knows, while you do not know.
3:67 Abraham was neither Jewish, nor Christian; he was a monotheist submitter. He never was an idol worshiper.
3:68 The people most worthy of Abraham are those who followed him, and this prophet, and those who believe. GOD is the Lord and Master of the believers.
What are some modern they examples of arguing about things we do not know?
It is probably better not to discuss as it may entice arguments:)
18:54 We have cited in this Quran every kind of example, but the human being is the most argumentative creature.
We like to argue for the sake of argument. If we are conscientious of this fact we can be cautious when we argue and try to avoid frivolous arguments. Some signs to determine if the argument is frivolous are:
– Are we arguing to boost our own egos?
– Are we looking only to win the argument?
– Are we okay with someone having a different understanding than us?
– What does the argument have to do with our salvation?
– Are we arguing to gain power?

What are the people of the scripture arguing about Abraham?
The following verse 3:67 explains the context of the argument. Jews and Christians each claim that Abraham is Jewish or Christian and therefore belong to their progeny. How could Abraham be Jewish or Christian when Abraham lived before Judaism and Christianity even existed?
Here is an example of each faction trying to identify Abraham for their own cause. Human beings like to see things in their own narrow perspective. They think by recruiting Abraham it will strengthen the legitimacy of their group. As oppose to looking for areas of commonality and items that would draw them together like Abraham they are making a ridiculous argument to separate themselves apart. This shows the human tendency towards sectarianism and to defy God’s laws. As believers we should constantly seek to find things that draw us together not pull us apart.

FAIR WARNING TO DISBELIEVERS
It is incumbent upon every sincere believer in God, who worships God ALONE, to support anyone who advocates the worship of God ALONE. If someone, anyone, is asking me to worship God ALONE, I must agree with him, and I must support him with all my power. In fact the Quran tells us that this is the reason for sending messengers. See 57:25. This is precisely why we note the severest retribution for those who oppose God’s messengers. Please read 4:115.
Rashad Khalifa advocates the worship of God ALONE.
Moreover, God has supported him with irrefutable miracles; He coded his name mathematically into the Quran as detailed in the last 4 issues of the M.P.
What kind of people would fight Rashad Khalifa? The answer has to be: “People who do not want to worship God ALONE.” For this is the only message preached by Rashad.
“Those who oppose God and His messenger shall be the lowliest. God has decreed: ‘ I and My messengers shall be victorious.’ God is powerful, Almighty.” 58:20-21
4:115 As for him who opposes the messenger, after the guidance has been pointed out to him, and follows other than the believers’ way, we will direct him in the direction he has chosen, and commit him to Hell; what a miserable destiny!
It is interesting how much God loves Abraham that it says “most worthy of Abraham.”
If you want to claim Abraham then you need to do what he advocated, to worship God alone.
Similar to Jesus asking the disciples “who are my supporters towards God”
3:52 When Jesus sensed their disbelief, he said, “Who are my supporters towards GOD?” The disciples said, “We are GOD’s supporters; we believe in GOD, and bear witness that we are submitters.”
