Essentials of SubmissionIslam as submission to God alone, taught by every messenger from Adam on, with its practices delivered through Abraham and its complete scripture, the Quran, through Muhammad. Dr. Khalifa explains the five pillars, from a shahada that names God alone to the contact prayers, fasting, zakat to relatives first, and Hajj without visiting Medina. He closes with the Quran's dietary prohibitions, intoxicants, gambling, and major sins.Dr. Rashad Khalifa (Speaker)King of ChaosSatan, the King of Chaos, is temporarily made a god over the tiny planet Earth, which explains why a merciful God permits famine, war, disease, and the suffering of children. The second program in a series sets God's greatness against seven vast universes and tells how Satan was exposed through Adam. It covers four kinds of disasters, repentance, and idol worship as the only unforgivable sin.Dr. Rashad Khalifa (Speaker)Mathematical Miracle of QuranDr. Khalifa explains how translating the Quran for his children led him to a computer study of the Quranic initials and the discovery of 19 as their common denominator. He walks through counts of verses, surahs, words, and initial letters, including the Basmala and its placement in surahs 9 and 27, and answers why 19: its numerical value equals the Arabic word for one, God alone.
Sermons
Sermon, June 1987Belief in God requires knowing that God runs everything, since the Quran shows that most who believe in God, like Satan, still go to hell. Dr. Khalifa proposes the daily dhikr God is running everything as a guard against objecting, complaining, and losing one's temper, and calls attributing action to anyone else idol worship. He also treats free choice, the contact prayer as an appointment with God, and eating in moderation.June 1, 1987Sermon, July 1987Priorities between the body, which dies, and the soul, the real person, which needs worshipping God alone, the five prayers, and constant commemoration of God. Dr. Khalifa contrasts a believer's morning with a heedless neighbor's, reads Sura 18 on the fleeting world, and stresses the Friday prayer. He then reads a passage on Rabbi Judah's defense of the numerical harmony of prayer, likening it to the contact prayer and Al-Fatiha.July 1, 1987
