In sura 2 verse 30, God informed the angels that He is placing a Ruler ( خَلِيفَة / Khalīfa) on Earth.
2:30 Recall that your Lord said to the angels, “I am placing a representative (a temporary god) on Earth.” They said, “Will You place therein one who will spread evil therein and shed blood, while we sing Your praises, glorify You, and uphold Your absolute authority?” He said, “I know what you do not know.”
From previous studies, we know that this Khalifa mentioned above is Satan. In this article, we want to look at some of the verses from the Bible that confirm this understanding.
In Isaiah 14, we are informed of the supercilious thought that Satan entertained, thinking that he could be a god like the Most High.
12 How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. [ b] 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” 15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.
