Submitters Perspective, August 1986

Kassim Ahmad's article from Malaysia's Sunday Star argues that Muslims must turn away from Hadith and return to the Quran as the sole teaching of Prophet Muhammad, tracing Hadith as law to Imam Shafi'i. Malay newspaper editorials urge the ulama to debate his book openly rather than ban it. The issue also announces the San Francisco conference of the United Islamic Nation and the New Era beginning Muharram 1407.
